Avrupa tarihinde dönüm noktaları

1789: Fransız Devrimi. Monarşi devrildi, cumhuriyet kuruldu.

1815: Viyana Kongresi'nde Avrupa'nın haritası yeniden çizildi, güç dengesi yeniden oluştu ve Napolyon savaşları sonrası barış dönemi başladı.

1848: Avrupa çapında liberal ve demokratik devrimler dalgası.

1919: Versailles Anlaşması. Çok uluslu eski imparatorlukların yerini yeni bağımsız ulus devletler aldı.

1945: Yalta Konferansı'nda büyük güçler Avrupa'nın Batı ve Sovyet "etki alanları" arasında paylaşılması konusunda anlaştı. Avrupa kıtasında Demir Perde indi.

1989: Sovyet hakimiyetindeki Doğu Avrupa'da demokratik devrimlerle Demir Perde yıkıldı. İki yıl sonra Sovyetler Birliği çöktü. Vladimir Putin bu olayı "20. yüzyılın en büyük felaketi" olarak niteledi.

2022: Vladimir Putin'in Ukrayna'yı işgali dünyayı değiştirdi. Berlin Duvarı'nın yıkılmasıyla başlayan Soğuk Savaş sonrası dönem sona erdi; yeni ve daha tehlikeli zamanlarda yaşıyoruz.

    A Russian court on Tuesday sentenced jailed Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny to nine years in prison on fraud charges, in a ruling that will keep President Vladimir Putin's most prominent opponent out of active politics for years ahead.

    Navalny, who was also found guilty of contempt of court, is already serving a two-and-a-half year sentence at a prison camp east of Moscow for parole violations related to charges he says were trumped up to thwart his political ambitions.

    Navalny, who the court also fined 1.2 million roubles ($11,535), has dismissed the latest criminal case against him as politically motivated and pleaded not guilty.

    While Russia’s main military parade will be held on Red Square on 9 May, for millions of Russians, Victory Day is a spectacle that will play out on state television.

    The national holiday is spent with the TV on in many households, where the parade is bookended by news broadcasts and, usually, by Soviet war films and Russian blockbusters about the second world war. But this year may be different.

    The parade, which begins at 10am with a review of the troops and a speech by Putin, is among the most-watched programmes of the entire year in Russia. State-affiliated pollsters estimate that more than half of households watch it, although those numbers could be inflated.

    While rumours have swirled about a major announcement by Putin of a military mobilisation or a “mission accomplished” message, he usually dedicates the speech to familiar lines about the “spectre of fascism” and a recognition of veterans of what Russia calls the Great Patriotic War.

    Turkish company donates drone for Ukraine
    VILNIUS, Lithuania — Inspired by an act of generosity by Lithuanians, a Turkish manufacturer is donating a drone that will go to the war-torn country of Ukraine, Lithuania's defense minister said Thursday.

    Last week, Lithuanians raised 5.9 million euros in several days to buy a drone for Ukraine. Lithuanian officials had travelled to Turkey to sign a contract with the producer to acquire it.

    But Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas wrote on Facebook that the Turkish manufacturer was so “impressed” by the Lithuanian people that it is “donating a drone Bayraktar TB2 to Lithuania.”

    The Lithuanian government plans to send the drone to Ukraine later this month.

    Some 1.5 million euros of the money raised by Lithuanians will be spent on drone munition, while the remaining 4.4 million would be earmarked for humanitarian and other assistance to Ukraine, Anusauskas said.

    Türkmenistan ziyareti sırasında kendisinden konuyla ilgili yorum yapması istenince konuşan Rusya Devlet Başkanı, Batılı liderleri çok fazla alkol içmekle ve spor yapmamakla itham etti.

    "Bel altı mı, üstü mü soyunmak istediler bilmiyorum.
